The best engagement sessions aren’t always photographed at the most popular locations. They’re photographed in places that feel personal.

Wear Something That Feels Like You

One of the biggest questions I get is, “What should we wear?”

My advice is always the same:

Choose outfits you feel comfortable and confident in.

Neutral colors, soft earth tones, and timeless pieces tend to photograph beautifully, but more importantly, your clothes should feel like an extension of your personality.

I also recommend:

• Avoiding large logos
• Coordinating instead of matching
• Wearing comfortable shoes for walking between locations
• Bringing a second outfit if you’d like a different look

Don’t Worry About Posing

You don’t need modeling experience. Seriously.

Most of my couples tell me they feel awkward in front of a camera…and by the end of the session they’re laughing because they forgot they were even being photographed. I have a way about me that just makes your personal fears float away, seriously… I’m that good… or silly… you decide!

Instead of placing you in stiff poses, I’ll guide you through movement and prompts that create genuine interaction.

Walk.

One of the biggest gifts you can give yourself is permission to be present.

You’ll hear photographers talk about “golden hour” a lot…and for good reason.

The hour before sunset offers soft, warm light that’s flattering, romantic, and perfect for creating the cinematic feel my work is known for.

One of my favorite ways to tell a story is by mixing digital photography with 35mm film, Super 8 motion, and Polaroids.
