There are some wedding venues that immediately make you want to come back before you’ve even packed your camera bag. Then there’s wedding venues you squeal with joy when your best girl asks you to come along and second shoot at……
Historic Malbis Nursery is one of those places. lol
Nestled beneath towering oaks and surrounded by blooming spring flowers, the property feels like something pulled from an old Southern storybook. Every direction offered another beautiful backdrop, from winding garden paths to the soft light filtering through the trees. It’s the kind of venue that doesn’t need much……it simply lets the people and the season shine.
One detail that completely stole my attention was the bride’s gown. Instead of a traditional silhouette, she wore a vintage two piece dress covered in intricate embellishments across the bodice. Timeless, unique, and perfectly at home among the gardens. I love seeing couples choose pieces that reflect their personality rather than simply following trends, and this dress was unforgettable.
The wedding party was full of energy, laughter, and so much excitement throughout the day. Large bridal parties can sometimes feel overwhelming, but this one brought such a fun atmosphere that made documenting the celebration feel effortless.
As someone who photographs with both digital and 35mm film, venues like Historic Malbis Nursery are a dream. Spring colors were everywhere, wildflowers in bloom, lush greenery, and warm afternoon light that created the soft, nostalgic look I naturally gravitate toward. It’s easy to see why so many couples fall in love with this location.
Even though I was there as a second photographer, I left incredibly inspired. Every corner of the property sparked new ideas, and I found myself imagining all the different ways I would document a wedding here. From quiet portraits tucked into the gardens to candid moments beneath the trees as the sun begins to set.
